About Dental Cleanings
Even with a good home oral hygiene routine, including brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar can still build up around the enamel. This can lead to decay, cavities, and bacterial infections and other problems. To ensure the teeth stay healthy and clean, Dallas, TX residents should have a professional dental cleaning at least twice a year at Preston Hollow Dental Care with our dentists. This is generally known as a prophylaxis. During a professional dental cleaning, our dentists will use cleaning instruments to carefully remove tarter build-up and plaque on the tooth's surface. After the cleaning, the teeth will be buffed and polished and any further dental procedures such as fillings and crowns will be discussed. Regular dental exams and cleanings are crucial for a clean and healthy mouth.
Dental Cleanings Reviews
"The staff is professional and competent. I always feel good during and after cleanings and other procedures that the work has been properly done. They also offer free whitening for life which is awesome. I recently switched jobs and am now going to their sister office in Frisco/Little Elm which is equally great. Everyone is nice and the work is great. I highly recommend them :-)"- R.I. / Yelp / Aug 29, 2014
"I went here for a cleaning....my hygenist Kelly was AMAZING! I will be back!"- M.M. / Yelp / Nov 19, 2012
"Dr. Saadia Basit and her team assisted me with new veneers (cleaning, whitening, etc.). Since the top front teeth were to be replaced, details were important. Some color and shaping was done in the office, and Dr. Basit worked hard to get it right. The overall result was a very natural look, and I was pleased with the outcome. If I had to do it again, I would ask more questions about what level of coloring and shaping can be done in the office as opposed to what would require a separate visit to the lab. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall their team made a stressful experience much more tolerable, and their support in handling the insurance specifics was greatly appreciated."- M.M. / Yelp / Jul 26, 2016
"Friendly staff, who are organized and work efficiently with each other! as a new patient I filled out the necessary paperwork, got a cleaning, an oral evaluation, and X-rays in less than 40 minutes. After that it was 5 minutes paying and then done! This was 8:30 am on a Wednesday."- C.E. / Google / Apr 09, 2017

What to Expect
Dental cleanings are generally painless, but if a patient has sensitive teeth or gums, a numbing cream can be used. In addition, if the patient has trouble getting through a dental cleaning due to fear, mild sedation options are also provided at Preston Hollow Dental Care. A cleaning usually begins with an ultrasonic tool that helps to loosen plaque and tartar. Next, our dentists use hand tools such as scalers and curettes to remove build-up from the gumline and enamel. The final step is to brush, polish, and buff the enamel. Flossing and/or fluoride usually completes the procedure.
Once the teeth are cleaned, our dentists may perform an oral examination to check for signs of any oral conditions such as cancer or gum disease. To make certain the teeth stay healthy, patients should establish an at-home oral health regime of brushing and flossing daily. Patients should schedule their next dental cleaning at Preston Hollow Dental Care prior leaving the office, generally within six months.
Because a professional dental cleaning twice a year is considered a necessary preventative care treatment, most dental insurance carriers will cover a large majority of the cost. Preston Hollow Dental Care will verify with each patient's insurance provider to determine their coverage before billing the patient directly. Patients without dental insurance may inquire about financing plans through Preston Hollow Dental Care.
